Julio Macat,A.S.C. (born June 20, 1957) is an Argentine-American cinematographer. He is known for serving as cinematographer on the first three instalments of theHome Alone franchise.
Born inRosario, Santa Fe,Argentina, Macat would study atUniversity of California, Los Angeles.[1]
He started his career off as a camera operator, under the guidance of directorAndrei Konchalovsky, and worked on four of his movies includingRunaway Train andTango & Cash.[2]
Macat served as cinematographer on the 1990Christmas comedyHome Alone and its sequelsHome Alone 2: Lost in New York andHome Alone 3. Macat would frequently work on productions helmed byTom Shadyac andAdam Shankman, such asAce Ventura: Pet Detective,The Nutty Professor,The Wedding Planner,A Walk to Remember andBringing Down the House.
Macat has been married to actressElizabeth Perkins since 2000, having met during production ofMiracle on 34th Street.[3] He has three children from a previous marriage. His younger sister Sandra played an elf inHome Alone.
