Joshua Jacob Marston (born August 13, 1968) is an Americanscreenwriter andfilm director best known for the filmMaria Full of Grace.
Born inLos Angeles County, California, he graduated fromBeverly Hills High School. Marston worked inParis as an intern forLife, then forABC News during theGulf War.[1] He returned to the United States and earned amaster's degree in Political Science fromUniversity of Chicago in 1994 before earning aMaster of Fine Arts in film atNew York University.[2]
Marston also directed an episode ofSix Feet Under, and Episode 7 ofThe Newsroom in 2012. Marston directed a segment of the collective filmNew York, I Love You.
His 2011 filmThe Forgiveness of Blood premiered in competition at the61st Berlin International Film Festival and competed for theGolden Bear.[3][4] Along with Andamion Murataj, Marston won the Silver Bear for Best Script.[5]
In 2014, he received aGuggenheim Fellowship in Film-Video.
In 2016, Marston made his English-language debut onComplete Unknown starringRachel Weisz andMichael Shannon, which had its world premiere at the2016 Sundance Film Festival.[6][7] The film was released on August 26, 2016, byAmazon Studios &IFC Films.[8] In 2018, his filmCome Sunday was released onNetflix.
