Iteravis ("journey bird") is anextinctgenus ofornithuromorphavialan. It was found in theYixian Formation and lived during theEarly Cretaceousperiod of what is today theLiaoning Province ofChina. Thetype and only species isI. huchzermeyeri, named in honor of thearchosaurpalaeontologist Dr. Fritz Huchzermeyer, who died shortly beforeIteravis was described.[1]
Iteravis ate larger particles of food thanArchaeorhynchus, although the exact details of its diet remain enigmatic.[2]
