Hugh Futcher (born 29 October 1937) is an English actor in theatre, television and film.[1][2] He was a member of the stock company of theCarry On films, with notable parts inCarry On Spying,Carry On at Your Convenience, andCarry On Behind. Other films includeRoman Polanski'sRepulsion (as Colin's pubmate Reggie) and theHerman's Hermits musicalMrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter.[3]

In television, Futcher had a recurring role in the adventure seriesOrlando as "Hedgehog."[4] He has also appeared onThe Saint,Z-Cars,The Sweeney,Minder, andCasualty.[4] In 1972, he appeared in theDoctor Who serialThe Sea Devils, andSix Days of Justice, in the episode "A Private Nuisance", withEarl Cameron andMollie Sugden.[5][6] Fifteen years later he was considered for the role of theSeventh Doctor, but accepted other work that precluded taking the part.[7]

He appeared withBrian Murphy andMaureen Lipman in the 1985 television dramaOn Your Way, Riley.[8]

In 2011, he appeared in episode 5 of series 5 ofMI High as George.[9]
