Australian writer and data modeller
Graeme C. Simsion is a New Zealand-born Australian author,screenwriter , playwright, anddata modeller , best known for his first novelThe Rosie Project .
Early life and education [ edit ] Simsion was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia with his family when he was 12 years old.[ 1]
Prior to becoming an author, Simsion was an information systems consultant, co-authoring the bookData Modelling Essentials, and worked in wine distribution.[ 2] [ 3]
In 2012 Simsion won theVictorian Premier's Unpublished Manuscript Award for his bookThe Rosie Project .[ 4] [ 5] The novel was published byText Publishing to critical acclaim in Australia in January 2014.[ 6] By March 2016 it had sold more than three and a half million copies in over 40 countries around the world.[ 7] [ 8]
Simsion initially wroteThe Rosie Project as a screenplay, which has since been optioned toSony Pictures Entertainment .[ 9]
A sequel titledThe Rosie Effect , was published on 24 September 2014.[ 8]
The third and final book,The Rosie Result , was published in February 2019.[ 10]
Simsion's third novel,The Best of Adam Sharp was published by Text Publishing in 2016. Its movie rights were optioned toToni Collette ’s company Vocab Films.[ 11]
Simsion's fourth novelTwo Steps Forward , a collaboration with his wifeAnne Buist , was published on 2 October 2017.[ 12] Its sequel, titledTwo Steps Onward, was published in June 2021.
Simsion is married to psychiatristAnne Buist and has two children.[ 13]
In 2006 he obtained a PhD in data modelling from theUniversity of Melbourne .[ 13]
