August Heart is a colleague of Allen from the Central City Police Department.[1] His brother was murdered by a career criminal and his killer was let free due to the evidence being destroyed in a lightning strike. When August confrontsBlack Hole, a group who had stolenS.T.A.R. Labs equipment, he is struck bySpeed Force lightning and transformed into a speedster.[2][3]

Afterward, August attempts to become a superhero, being both an ally and enemy to the Flash due to his violent methods.[4][5][6]
