Gnarrk is a fictional character inDC Comics. He is acaveman who has been a member of various versions of theTeen Titans in the comic books in the early 1970s.
In pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity, Gnarrk is a time-displacedNeanderthal stranded in the present, whenLilith teaches him human language and customs. The two retire from the Teen Titans to live together, apparently as a couple. Later, Gnarrk and Lilith briefly joinTeen Titans West before it is disbanded.[1] Several years later atDonna Troy's wedding, Lilith mentions that Gnarrk has died under unspecified circumstances.
In post-Crisis continuity, Gnarrk is aCro-Magnon who gains enhanced intelligence from a comet shard embedded in his chest.[2] Soon afterward, the shard protects him from a volcanic eruption by encasing him in ice for centuries. However, he remains conscious and uses the shard's abilities to cure disease and control the forces of nature to benefit mankind.
The Titans later free Gnarrk, and Lilith establishes a mental rapport with him. However, he begins dying shortly afterwards for unknown reasons, with his crystal acting as life support. After Gnarrk dies, the crystal loses its powers.[3][4]
In post-New 52 continuity, Gnarrk is a member of the original incarnation of the Teen Titans. InHeroes in Crisis, he is killed bySavitar, but eventually resurrected.[5][6]
As a Cro-Magnon, Gnarrk possesses superhuman strength, dexterity, and endurance. He also has limited psychic abilities derived from the crystal embedded in his chest.
