Giorgio Diritti (born 21 December 1959) is an Italiandirector andscreenwriter.
Diritti trained by working alongside various authors such asPupi Avati and made various castings for films inEmilia-Romagna, includingFederico Fellini'sThe Voice of the Moon. He took part in the activity of Ipotesi Cinema, an institute for the training of young authors, founded and directed byErmanno Olmi. During the years, Diritti directed documentaries, short films and television programs.
His debut film,The Wind Blows Round, participates in over 60 national and international festivals, winning over 36 awards and became a "national case", remaining in programming at Cinema Mexico inMilan for more than a year and a half.[1]
His second film,The Man Who Will Come, is presented in the official selection of the2009 Rome Film Festival, where it won the Silver Marc'Aurelio - Grand Jury Prize.[2]
In 2013, his filmThere Will Come a Day premiered at theSundance Film Festival.[3]
In 2020, Diritti directedHidden Away, which tells the life of painterAntonio Ligabue: the film was presented at the2020 Berlin Film Festival, whereElio Germano won for his role theSilver Bear for Best Actor.[4] The film later won sixDavid di Donatello Awards, includingBest Film andBest Director.[5]
