Gianfranco Goria, born on August 3, 1954, inBruneck (South Tyrol,Italy), is anItaliancartoonist,script-writer,Disney comics creator,[1]blogger andjournalist. Moved with his parents toRome and then toTurin. He carried out his university studies at theUniversity of Turin, under the guidance of the orientalistOscar Botto.
He founded the Italian cartoonists societyAnonima Fumetti, the daily news serviceafNews, theFoundation and Museum of Comic Art Franco Fossati, and the National Union of Comic ArtistsSindacato italiano lavoratori fumetto. He is the editor of the Italian editions of important essays about comic art byScott McCloud,Will Eisner andBenoit Peeters. Goria is also a teacher of Graphic Literature and lecturer, specialized in the works ofHergé (he was also in charge of the philological supervision of the new Italian edition ofThe Adventures of Tintin for Rizzoli Lizard) andEdgar Pierre Jacobs (Blake and Mortimer). Among his Disney stories, thespecial homage to Kurosawa'sSeven Samurai.Since January 2023 he is the first Honorary Consul ofSyldavia in Italy.[2]
