Gary M. Brito (born 1963 or 1964) is aUnited States Army general who serves asCommanding General, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command since 8 September 2022.[2] He served asDeputy Chief of Staff, G-1 of the United States Army from July 2020 to August 2022.[3] He was also the firstCape Verdean American to commandFort Benning.[4] Further commands included the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk; the 120th Infantry Brigade, 1st Army; and 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment.[5]
Born and raised inHyannis, Massachusetts, he was commissioned in 1987 fromROTC at thePennsylvania State University.[1][6][5]
Brito earned aBachelor of Science degree in Community Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. He later received a master's degree in Human Resource Management fromTroy State University and another master's degree in Joint Strategy and Campaign Planning from theJoint Advanced Warfighting School.[6]
