Fruit Tree is an American film and televisionproduction company, founded byEmma Stone andDave McCary in 2020. The company's productions includeWhen You Finish Saving the World (2022),The Curse (2023), andA Real Pain (2024).

History

In August 2020, it was announcedEmma Stone andDave McCary had launchedFruit Tree, a production company producing film and television series, with afirst-look television deal atA24.[1] In October 2020, Ali Herting joined the company as a producer.[2]

The company's debut featureWhen You Finish Saving the World, directed byJesse Eisenberg, premiered at the2022 Sundance Film Festival in January 2022. The film was released in January 2023, by A24.[3] Fruit Tree's first television projectThe Curse, starring Stone alongside co-creatorsNathan Fielder andBenny Safdie, premiered onShowtime in November 2023.

Fruit Tree once again collaborated with A24 onProblemista, directed, written and co-starringJulio Torres. The film was released in March 2024.[4]I Saw the TV Glow, written and directed byJane Schoenbrun, was released in theaters by A24 on 3 May 2024.[5]Fantasmas, a second collaboration with Torres, premiered onHBO on June 7, 2024.[6]

A Real Pain, a second collaboration with Eisenberg, was released on November 1, 2024 bySearchlight Pictures.[7][8]

Fruit Tree's first documentary project,The Yogurt Shop Murders directed byMargaret Brown focusing on the1991 Austin yogurt shop killings will have its world premiere atSouth by Southwest.[9]

Future projects

Fruit Tree and A24 are developing an adaption ofA Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham forMax[10] and have secured the rights to an unreleased novel byBen Mezrich on theCarlsen–Niemann controversy, with Fielder attached to direct.[11] In October 2024, the company entered into a first-look production deal withUniversal Pictures.[12]
