Frejgatina

Maltese traditional fishing boat

Thefrejgatina (pluralfrejgatini) is atraditional fishing boat fromMalta, its name meaning "littlefrigate."[1] It is a small,carvel-builtrowing boat. It is generally only used to travel between the shore and a larger boat anchored offshore.[2]

It istransom-sterned, open, and steered with twooars, although some modern boats have engines attached, to move the boat and/or operate thewinch.[3] Some modern frejgatini are made withfibreglass instead of wood.[4]

Since 1935 frejgatini have raced in the annualVictory Dayregatta.[5][4]
