As the47thpresident of the United States,Donald Trump has relied extensively onexecutive orders. In thefirst 100 days of hispresidency, Trump signed 143 executive orders (an average of over one per day), more than any other president had signed in theirfirst 100 days in office.Franklin D. Roosevelt previously held the record, signing 99 executive orders in 1933.[1] On his first day in office, Trump issued 26 executive orders, the most of any president on their first day in office. The executive orders rescinded many of theprevious administration's executive actions, began the withdrawal process from the World Health Organization andParis Agreement,[2]rolled back federal recognition ofgender identity,[3] founded theDepartment of Government Efficiency, reaffirmed the existingconstitutional right tofree speech, reversed the withdrawal ofCuba's designation as astate sponsor of terrorism, reversed sanctions onIsraeli settlers, rolled backpolicy on artificial intelligence, reversed the Family Reunification Task Force,[4]pardoned over 1,500January 6 rioters,[5][6] designatedMexican drug cartels asforeign terrorist organizations, attempted to endbirthright citizenship for new children ofillegal immigrants and immigrants legally but temporarily present in the U.S. (such as those on student, work, or touristvisas), delayed thegovernment's ban ofTikTok, and declared anational emergency on thesouthern border, triggering the deployment of theU.S. military.[7][8]

Several of Trump's orders have been considered to have ignored or violated federal laws, regulations, and theConstitution.[9][10] Some have been blocked in court for these reasons.[11] Four days into his presidency, an analysis conducted byTime found that nearly two-thirds ofhis executive actions "mirror or partially mirror" proposals fromProject 2025,[12] which was seconded by analysis fromBloomberg Government.[13]
