Ernst Teodorovich Krenkel (Russian:Эрнст Теодо́рович Кре́нкель; 24 December [O.S. 11 December] 1903 inBiałystok – 8 December 1971 inMoscow) was aSovietArctic explorer, radio operator, and doctor of geographical sciences (1938). He is best known as one of the four members of theNorth Pole-1 expedition, for which he was awarded the title ofHero of the Soviet Union in 1938.Amateur radiocallsigns: EU2EQ, U3AA, UA3AA, RAEM.[1]
