Eran-asan-kerd-Kawad orIran asan kar(t) Kavad (Middle Persian:𐭠𐭩𐭫𐭠𐭭𐭠𐭮𐭠𐭭𐭪𐭫𐭪𐭥𐭠𐭲 ʾylʾnʾsʾnklkwʾt,[1] meaning "Kavad [has] madeĒrān peaceful") was aSasanian city founded byKavad I (r. 488–496, 498–531) in theHulwan region.[2] It was the capital of a province possibly identical to the Hulwan region and bordering the provinces of Syarazur (Shahrizor) andGaramig.[3] The geographerJosef Markwart placed the city betweenAdiabene and Garamig. It is mentioned in bothArmenian sources and theMiddle PersianŠahrestānīhā ī Ērānšahr ("Provincial Capitals of Ērān").[2]
