Anenkephalinase inhibitor is a type ofenzyme inhibitor which inhibits one or more members of theenkephalinase class ofenzymes that break down theendogenousenkephalinopioid peptides. Examples includeracecadotril,ubenimex (bestatin),RB-101, andD-phenylalanine, as well as the endogenous opioid peptidesopiorphin andspinorphin.[1] It also includesRB-3007,Semax andSelank.Analgesic,anticraving,antidepressant,anxiolytic, andantidiarrheal effects are common properties of enkephalinase inhibitors.[1]
