Dorota Elżbieta Simonides (born 1928Janów) - Polishfolklorist and politician. Professor emerita of the Faculty of Philology,Opole University.
During thePeople's Republic of Poland period she joined a small non-Marxist 'satellite party', theDemocratic Party (SD), and was a member of parliament of theSejm of People's Republic of Poland in 1980–1985. She was one of only a few MPs who did not vote in favour ofmartial law in 1981 and the criminalisation ofSolidarity in 1984.
She lost her library (5 000 volumes) during the1997 Central European flood.[1]
