Christy A. Lemire (néeNemetz; born August 30, 1972)[1][2][3] is an American film critic and host of the movie review podcastBreakfast All Day. She previously wrote for theAssociated Press from 1999 to 2013,[4][5] was a co-host ofEbert Presents at the Movies in 2011[6] and co-hosted the weekly online movie review showWhat The Flick?! until 2018.[7] As of 2024, she reviews under theBreakfast All Day brand, on YouTube and Patreon, withAlonso Duralde.
Born at the oldCedars of Lebanon Hospital (now Church of Scientology West Coast headquarters), Lemire grew up inWoodland Hills.[8] She is a 1993 graduate ofSouthern Methodist University with a degree injournalism and is a member of theDelta Gamma sorority.[6][9]
Lemire started writing film reviews for the Associated Press in 1999 and moved to New York in 2000 as a general entertainment reporter.[8] In 2004, she became the Associated Press' first full-time film critic.[10] In addition to her print work, Lemire has appeared on television shows including theToday Show andGood Morning America.[10]
In 2003, she was a guest co-host onThe View. Lemire made headlines when she and co-hostMeredith Vieira shared a kiss in response to theMadonna andBritney Spears kiss at theMTV Video Music Awards.[11][12]
Lemire was ranked number 93 on the "Independent Critics List of the 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2008".[13]
Lemire made several appearances substituting for film criticRoger Ebert onAt the Movies.[8] When Ebert created his new film review program for public television,Ebert Presents: At The Movies, Lemire was selected as co-host of the program along with film criticIgnatiy Vishnevetsky.Ebert Presents: at the Movies aired for a single season in 2011.[14]
She was one of the regular critics on theYouTube showWhat The Flick?! hosted onThe Young Turks network, from 2010 to 2018. In August 2018,The Young Turks network canceledWhat The Flick?! along withPop Trigger andNerd Alert to focus on news content.[15] Lemire and co-hostAlonso Duralde, former hostsBen Mankiewicz and Matt Atchity continued the series as a podcast on Lemire's personal website under the new name,Breakfast All Day.[16]
She lives inPalos Verdes Estates, California with her husband Chris Lemire,[8][30] a television producer, and son Nicolas, born in November 2009.[31] She has described herself as a "lapsed Catholic".[32]
In March 2025, Lemire announced on herYouTube channel "Breakfast All Day movie reviews" that she hadbreast cancer.[33]
