Bridgetown is acensus-designated place (CDP) inGreen Township,Hamilton County,Ohio, United States. The population was 14,731 at the2020 census. In earlier censuses it was listed as the slightly smallerBridgetown North CDP.
Bridgetown was settledc. 1820, and named afterBridgeton, New Jersey, the native home of a share of the first settlers.[4]
Bridgetown was home to theWestern Hills Airport (Also called "Frank Airport" and "Cheviot Airport") and was the first airport in westernHamilton County, Ohio. Airport operations began in 1929, shutdown duringWorld War II, then reopened after the end of the war, slowly declining until the corporation ceased services in 1949 as aircraft outgrew the facilities.
Bridgetown is located just west of the city ofCheviot and 9 miles (14 km) northwest of downtownCincinnati.Ohio State Route 264, Bridgetown Road, runs through the center of the community.
According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.3 square miles (11.2 km2), all land.[5]
As of the census of 2020, there were 14,731 people living in the CDP, for a population density of 3,416.28 people per square mile (1,319.15/km2). There were 6,207 housing units. The racial makeup of the CDP was 90.2%White, 2.9%Black orAfrican American, 0.1%Native American, 0.9%Asian, 0.0%Pacific Islander, 0.8% fromsome other race, and 5.1% from two or more races. 2.1% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.[6]
There were 5,344 households, out of which 31.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% weremarried couples living together, 16.7% had a male householder with no spouse present, and 29.8% had a female householder with no spouse present. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.6% were someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48, and the average family size was 3.11.[6]
25.2% of the CDP's population were under the age of 18, 56.3% were 18 to 64, and 18.5% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36.8. For every 100 females, there were 95.7 males.[6]
According to the U.S. CensusAmerican Community Survey, for the period 2016-2020 the estimated median annual income for a household in the CDP was $66,765, and the median income for a family was $75,449. About 7.6% of the population were living below thepoverty line, including 12.8% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over. About 64.6% of the population were employed, and 29.7% had a bachelor's degree or higher.[6]
The community is withinOak Hills Local School District. Oakdale Elementary School, Bridgetown Middle School andOak Hills High School are within Bridgetown. Catholic Middle Schools include St. Jude and St. Aloysius Gonzaga.[7][8]
