Brandon Mychal Smith (born May 29, 1989[1]) is an American actor, singer, dancer, and rapper. He is best known for playing Bug Wendal inGridiron Gang, Sam inYou're the Worst, Li'l Danny Dawkins inPhil of the Future, Nico Harris inSonny with a Chance andSo Random!, Stubby inStarstruck, Lord of da Bling inLet It Shine, and Marcus inOne Big Happy. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Tayshawn Mitchell inThe Ron Clark Story (2006) andLittle Richard in the 2014James Brown biopicGet on Up.[2][3][4] He voicesMichelangelo in the Nickelodeon animated seriesRise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Smith won a Family Television Award andYoung Artist Award in 2007 for his performance as Tayshawn inThe Ron Clark Story. His other credits include the 2006 production ofGridiron Gang as Bug Wendal, and a recurring role as Mario inUnfabulous. He starred in the 2010Disney Channel Original MovieStarstruck. He also performs the song and music video "Party Up" forStarstruck. He was a competitor on theDancing with the Stars sequelSkating with the Stars but had to withdraw due to illness. He produced Maxrank's track "Winna Girl".[5]
