Quinigua (Kiniwa) is anextinct language that was spoken in northeasternMexico. Quinigua was spoken between theSierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra Tamaulipa la Nueva, and between theRio Grande and the Rio del Pilón Grande.[1] It has no apparent relatives and remainsunclassified.
Gursky (1964) notes that Quinigua is highly different from its neighbors such asCoahuilteco, but observes some limited similarities with "Hokan-Coahuiltecan languages" such asComecrudan andYuman languages.[1]
