The word "Bibi", which made its way into thePashto andUrdu language, was originally borrowed fromClassical Persian (بیبیbī-bī). It was translated as "grandma" (chiefly inPashto,Dari,Tajik). Besides this it was also used as respectful title to address senior women.[4]
