Barney Lewis Chavous (/ˈtʃeɪvʌs/CHAY-vuhs;[1] born March 22, 1951) is an American former professionalfootball player who was adefensive end for theDenver Broncos of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football forSouth Carolina State Bulldogs. He was selected by theAssociated Press as a first-team defensive end on the1972 Little All-America college football team.[2] He was selected by the Broncos in the second round of the1973 NFL draft
He played his entire NFL career with the Broncos from 1973 to 1985. He ranks third on the Broncos' all-time sacks list with 75 and is tied withTom Jackson for third in Broncos' career starts with 177.
