Bargème (French pronunciation:[baʁʒɛm];Occitan:Bargema) is acommune in theVardepartment in theProvence-Alpes-Côte d'Azurregion in southeasternFrance. It is a member ofLes Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages of France) Association.
In 1949Evelyn Watts, an English social worker, with a friend set up a home in Bargème for disadvantaged children to recover their strength and confidence in a healthy climate. Her bookCastle on a Hill[3] describes the venture.
