Bahacheve (Ukrainian:Багачеве,IPA:[bɐɦɐˈtʃɛve]), formerly known asVatutine (Ukrainian:Ватутіне) is a city inZvenyhorodka Raion,Cherkasy Oblast,Ukraine. It hosts the administration ofVatutine urban hromada, one of thehromadas of Ukraine.[2] It had a population of15,763 (2022 estimate).[1]
Bahacheve gained status as a city in 1952.[3] Until 18 July 2020, Bahacheve was designated as acity of oblast significance and belonged toVatutine Municipality but not to any raion. As part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Cherkasy Oblast to four, the city was merged into Zvenyhorodka Raion.[4][5]

The city was founded in 1946.[citation needed]
On 3 April 2024, theCommittee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-government, Regional Development, and Urban Planning [uk] in theVerkhovna Rada stated their support for renaming the city to Bahacheve as part of thederussification campaign,[6] considering that the name Vatutine is derived fromNikolai Vatutin. On 19 September 2024, the Verkhovna Rada voted to rename Vatutine to Bahacheve.[7]
In January 1989, the population of the city was 20, 362 people.[8][3] In January 2013, the population of the city was 17, 653 people.[9]
