NTT Data Payment Services (formerly known asAtom TechnologiesLimited) is a payment services provider company headquartered inMumbai, India.

History

Atom was started in 2006 as asubsidiary of theFinancial Technologies Group, founded by Jignesh Shah.[1] The company has historically focused on the distribution ofpayment andbanking services through the use ofmobile technology. Atom Technologies has provided products and services formobile payments,interactive voice response (IVR)-based payments, and mobile-based service distribution frameworks.[1]

Acquisition

NTT DATA, in November 2018 announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Atom Technologies.[2]

The company'spayment platforms have beenaccredited forPCIDSS[3] &PA-DSS[4]certifications which are accepted by thebanking industry and hence ascertain the security of itsmobile payment transactions and thetransmission of cardholder data.

Atom'spayment platform usesAdvanced Encryption Standard 128Bitcipher block chaining forroutingtransactions using secureVPN connectivity. Atom does not store anycredit card details but acts as a pass-through to the bank'spayment gateway forroutingtransactions.[5]

Partnerships

Atom has tie-ups with majorbanks[6] apart fromcredit card companies likeVisa Inc.,MasterCard, andAmerican Express. Thecredit cards of thesebanks and companies can be used to transact on the Atom platform. More than 1500merchants have tied up with Atom to provide thesepayment services.[7]
