Adele ReinhartzFRSC (born 1953) is a Canadian academic and a specialist in the history and literature ofChristianity andJudaism in theGreco-Roman period, theGospel of John, earlyJewish–Christian relations,literary criticism includingfeminist literary criticism,feminist exegesis, and the impact of the Bible on popular cinema and television.[1]
In 1975 Reinhartz received herBachelor of Arts degree inreligious studies from theUniversity of Toronto, in 1977 herMaster of Arts degree, and in 1983[2] herDoctor of Philosophy degree in religious studies fromMcMaster University.[3]
Reinhartz joined the McMaster faculty in 1987.[4] She was dean of graduate studies and research atWilfrid Laurier University[5] before being appointed associate vice-president, research, atUniversity of Ottawa in 2005.[1]
In 1997–1998 she was the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies president, and in 2005 she was made afellow of the Royal Society of Canada.[1]
Reinhartz was the editor of theJournal of Biblical Literature until December 31, 2018.[6]
