Sexual attraction to people with impaired mobility

Abasiophilia is a psychosexual attraction to people with impaired mobility, especially those who use orthopaedic appliances such asleg braces,orthopedic casts, orwheelchairs.^[1] The term abasiophilia was first used byJohn Money of theJohns Hopkins University in a paper onparaphilias, in 1990.^[2]^[3]

Abasiophilia plays a prominent role in theMichael Connelly novelThe Scarecrow, in which aserial killer is motivated by abasiophilia.^[4]
