13th annual meeting of National Hockey League franchises to select newly eligible players
The1975NHL amateur draft was the 13th NHL entry draft. It was held at the NHL office inMontreal ,Quebec . The two-time defending Stanley Cup championPhiladelphia Flyers made the most noise at the draft, tradingBill Clement ,Don McLean , and the 18th overall pick to theWashington Capitals for the number one overall selection, which they used to selectMel Bridgman . Later in round nine the Flyers became the first NHL team to select a Soviet-born and trained player in the amateur draft, selecting LatvianViktor Khatulev 160th pick overall.[ 1]
The last active player in the NHL from this draft class wasDave Taylor , who retired after the1993–94 season .
