.bl is anInternetcountry code top-level domain (ccTLD) that was to be created forSaint Barthélemy, following the decision on 21 September 2007 by theISO 3166 Maintenance Agency to allocate BL as theISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for Saint Barthélemy.[1] This decision followed Saint Barthélemy's new status as anOverseas collectivity of France which took effect on 15 July 2007.[2] Currently Saint Barthélemy usesGuadeloupe's ccTLD,.gp,[3] and France's ccTLD,.fr.[3]
In fact, that Sunday, 15 July, was the day that Saint Barth officially became a COM—Overseas Collectivity—with its new governing body.
