Definition and Usage
Thescroll-padding-top property specifies the distance from the top of the container to the snap position on the child elements.
Snap position is the position on the child element where it snaps into place in the container when you stop scrolling. Snap position is set withscroll-snap-align property, but can also be affected by CSS propertiesdirection andwriting-mode.
Note: This property only works if the snap position is placed at the top of the child element.
To see the effect from thescroll-padding-top property, thescroll-snap-align property must be set on the child elements, and thescroll-padding-top andscroll-snap-type properties must be set on the parent element.

Set scroll-padding at the top
Thescroll-padding-top property can also be set on the container when snap behaviour is set in both directions. Scroll to the next element vertically to see the effect:
scroll-padding-top: 30px;

Snap position
The snap position must be placed on top of the child elements for thescroll-padding-top property to work. In this example thewriting-mode property changes the snap position from top to the right side of child elements. With the code like this thescroll-padding-top property no longer works:
