Stephen Colbert has picked a familiar face to be his bandleader when he takes overThe Late Show in a few months.

Back in 2014, Louisiana jazz musicianJon Batiste stopped byThe Colbert Report to promote his band’s latest album. Their performance of “Express Yourself“ was so stirring that it actually roused the audience from their seats for an impromptu mini-parade that lead to the entire audience boogying down on the streets of New York. (Watch here.)

It must have made an impression on Colbert, because he just named Batiste as the bandleader on his forthcoming new iteration ofThe Late Show.

In a new video, Colbert looms over a giant plate of beignets as he intones, “People keep asking who my bandleader's gonna be. Well, I likethis guy.” The camera pans to Batiste, who demonstrates his musical prowess and versatility by singing, playing piano, and even delivering a mesmerizing melodica solo. When the camera pans back to a now sugar-coated Colbert, he declares, “So good!”

The 28-year-old New Orleans resident is well-qualified for the job. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School and in 2012 was named Artistic Director at Large for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. The multi-instrumentalist has released several studio and live albums, including 2013'sSocial Music, which topped Billboard’s jazz chart.

He is no stranger to television, either. In addition to his appearances onThe Colbert Report, wherethe two showed real chemistry, he appeared as himself in two seasons of the HBO New Orleans-based drama seriesTreme and had a supporting role in Spike Lee's 2012 film,Red Hook Summer.

“I'm thrilled!” Batiste said in a statement announcing his new gig. “This is a match made in heaven. Get ready for a love riot in late night.” He will be joined onThe Late Show by his band Stay Human. “His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ’Do Not Make Love‘ sign,” added Colbert.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres Tuesday, September 8th on CBS.
