US 152 existed for only about four years; its north terminus was at its junction with US 41 just outside St. John:

In 1938, US 152 was decommissioned, and for the next 14 years its former route between St. John and Montmorenci carried state highway designations.  But in 1952, the US 231 designation was extended north from Alabama, and its northernmost segment was routed along historic US 152, ending in St. John:

For much of that time, the highway did not junction US 41 at a standard four-way intersection (like it does today).  Instead, just east of US 41, the highway curved to the north and met US 41 at an angle:

That angled segment was vacated sometime in the 1980s, but part of it is still visible on the left side of this interactive image:
The north beginning of US 152 was to the left.  Later the same was true of US 231, but now the north beginning of that designation is just a bit further south on US 41.

These photos were taken from that junction: looking south on US 41 at the north beginning of US 231 (to the left)...

...and this next one was taken heading the opposite direction (north on US 41):

Travelers who take that turn to the east will soon encounter the first southbound US 231 sign, shown here:

The green sign says "Veterans Memorial Parkway", a designation bestowed by the state of Indiana on their portion of this route.  Heading the opposite direction, when one reaches the north end of US 231, they are actually heading due west.  In these photos US 41 is the cross road, running north and south.  "Downtown" St. John is about two miles north (right).  Straight ahead is 109th Avenue, a local road.  An "End" sign was posted on the pole across the intersection:
