The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is currently undergoing a significant office expansion to accommodate the rising number of United Nations Agencies, Funds and Programmes that are relocating some of their regional and global operations to Kenya. This expansion underscores Nairobi’s increasingly vital role in the UN’s architecture, as the organization continues to embrace cost-efficiency, sustainability, and a greater presence in the Global South. Given the significant range of UN operations in the Global South, this brings the UN closer to the people it serves.

UNON, established in 1996, provides a wide range of administrative and support services to UNEP, UN-Habitat, and the Resident Coordination System, including location-dependent services to various UN agencies, funds and programs operating in or from Kenya.
