| A laila, piha nō ko kākou waha i ka, A me ko kākou alelo i ka hauʻoli; A laila, ʻōlelo nō lākou i waena o ko nā ʻāina ʻē, Nani nā mea a Iēhova i hana mai ai no lākou lā. | Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." |

| E nānā i ko lākou noho ʻana i lalo, a me ko lākou kū ʻana i luna, ʻo wau nō ko lākou mele. | Look at them! Sitting or standing, they mock me in their songs. |
| ʻŌlelo mai ʻo Iēhova ka Haku, penei; E inu nō ʻoe i ko ke kīʻaha o kou kaikuaʻana he hohonu a he nui; a e henehene ʻia ʻoe a e ʻia, no ka mea, he nui ko loko. | "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "You will drink your sister's cup, a cup large and deep; it will bring scorn and derision, for it holds so much. |
| Hoʻomāʻewaʻewa aku nō ia i nā aliʻi, a lilo nā haku i mea henehene nona: Ua nō ia i nā wahi paʻa a pau, a hana nō ia i puʻu lepo, a lawe pio nō ʻo ia ia mea. | They deride kings and scoff at rulers. They laugh at all fortified cities; they build earthen ramps and capture them. |
