Clayton Kershaw took the mound twice last week, starting Monday against theArizona Diamondbacks and Saturday against theSt. Louis Cardinals. He pitched 16 innings and didn't allow a single run, including his fourth career shutout against St. Louis, and for his efforts won the National League Player of the Week honors.

It is the second weekly honor in Kershaw’s career. He also won the award last year for the week of June 20-26, when he had back-to-back 11-strikeout complete game wins.

In addition to his pitching, Kershaw also had his first career extra-base hit on Saturday when he doubled against the Cardinals.

TheDodgers have won three of the seven Player of the Week honors this season, with Kerhsaw joiningMatt Kemp, who won the first two weeks of the year. Before Kershaw, the last Dodgers pitcher to win the weekly award wasEric Gagne for the week of August 4-10, 2003.

Kershaw is 4-1 with a 1.90 ERA this season with 11 unintentional walks and 51 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings. Kershaw has an active streak of 22 consecutive scoreless innings.
