Instead of red blood, we get orange jack-o'-lanternupchuck.

Having partaken of a lavish feast that was brought to them in a procession of courses, they'd trundle off to a corner andupchuck the lot.

Characters come to life through their verbal tics and styles of cursing, as well as their nicknames, like Dash,Upchuck, and Bama.

In these poems, however, the wordplay is deployed less in the spirit of delight, and more in a kind of Nimrodean nonsense curse against poetry: "O objects of repulsive things we treasure like repasts /upchuck the verse which denvers us to kindred oompas / across horrid sands to traverse this putrid fen."

The result is a very funny book; think pizza, maggots in underpants, 'splatteringupchuck' and a meeting with the Intergalactic Traffic Police with more pizza for good measure.

The book is written with a light touch, and with humor, e.g., the judge in the preliminary court hearing that takes place near the end of the book is Judge Upton Upchurch, "known locally and not affectionately as JudgeUpchuck." And the expert witness called by Geri at the hearing is Winston Golightly (a relative of Holly, no doubt).

A steel, motor-driven "upchuck" target, made by Larue Products, that resets itself about every 20 seconds, was fired at from a distance of 400 meters from the prone position.

There are caps depicting "Irish yoga: Downward FacingUpchuck," (a drunk lying on a park bench vomiting shamrocks), hats with fake beer cans - and straws - sticking out, green, shamrock emblazoned T-shirts with a variety of tasteless slogans: "Irish Drinking Team," "If found, return to the pub" and "Get me drunk and we'll see." There are plenty of other drinking-related trinkets around, such as eight-inch-tall containers with "Irish shot glass" printed on them.
