BUNBURY SPEEDWAY SET TO OPEN ON THE 28TH JANUARY 2022

The new look Bunbury Speedway is set to open its 2022 season with ahuge tripple header sedan night commencing with a test and tune evening on the 27th of January, followed by two big nights of racing for Production Sedans, Street Stocks, Junior Sedans and Legend Cars on Friday 28th and 29th January.

Kade Helms, the president of the Bunbury Car Club said, we have secured much needed funding to refurbish the Bunbury Speedway venue and are looking forward to showcasing the circuits new facilities when we open our 2022 season on the 28th of January.

Unfortunately, we were unable to complete our

complete our capitol works program and have the circuit race ready for the traditional Speedweek Series over the Christmas/New year period and fortunately the Perth Motorplex stepped in and ran Bunbury Speedway's round, he said.

Kade said, The Bunbury Speedway has undertaken major works to bring the popular Southwest Speedway venue up to International venue up to International and Speedway Australia's standards. We have completely re-shaped the track and added in some clay to the old surface from the guys at MJB Industries, Piacentini and sons and Murray Hanson. We have also installed a new concrete  safety fence, and a state-of-the-art catch fence, including installing re-enforced  exit and entry gates to the pit area and I thank the teams from MJB Industries and Hotweld Fabrications for the work and the huge effort they put in.

We have worked tirelessly and we are all very excited with the outcome and really looking forward to our new season of racing commencing again on the 28th.

Kade Helms said, We are very proud of our facilities. The changes we have made to the venue are very impressive and we hope to attract hard core speedway fans, families, and the corporate sector to enjoy some great entertaining and competitive racing.

The Bunbury Car Club has also recently secured an extension on there long term lease arrangment for the land and facilities at Bunbury Speedway from the City of Bunbury, which runs through until 2030.

The Bunbury Speedway venue has played a significant role in the development of speedway in regional Western Australia and has hosted some world class competitors over many years.

In its early years the Bunbury circuit hosted international solo Test matches and individual World solo Champions and in more recent years  some of the best Speedcar and Sprintcar drivers in the World.

I for one cant wait for the popular venue to re-open and to see first-hand  and new facilities it has to offer.

Its been a massive effort from a lot of companies and people to get Bunbury City Speedway to where it is today. We've had the support of the McGowan Government. for much needed funding for the upgraded, along with the help of John Hovey from MJB Industries and Rick Casagranda from Hotweld who designed and installed this state of the art catchfence. Bunbury Car Club/Speedway President Kade Helms said. We are also gratefull to the Hon. Don Punch MLA. South West Development Commission. Department of Primary Industries. Heatleys Safety and Industrial, and all our volunteers within the club and the public for their support, We'renabsolutely thriled with the outcome.

Speedway Australia's WA & NT Sports Development officer Ross Kirby was buzzing with the outcome, labelling the project as a beacon of hope for speedway all over Australia.

This is a clear demonstration of what can happen when a club works alongside local and state government to prove the value of speedway in their community , and patiently walking out the journey with the relevent departments to make their dream a reality.

This is a landmark investment by the local and state governments in our sport and the entire speedway community Australia- Wide can be proud the Bunbury have proven themseves to be worthy recipients of such a huge injection of funding.

2022 - CITY OF BUNBURY CHRISTMAS PARADE   11th December 2022

Picture

The Bunbury Car Club is stepping up within the local community to a whole new level, Much is because of the influx of youth into the club and the speedway its self. Leading this charge is Rose Novel the current secretary of the club as well as being married to one of the most talented race car builder's in sedan cars in Australia, Luke Novel from Ragged Edge Racing. Rose stepped up to organize something that the club had not done for many years, that is enter into the City of Bunbury annual Christmas float parade, taking in Victoria Street in the Cities centre, Rose managed to enlist a team of voluteers along the way, to set up and enjoy the ride on float, a lot of our juniors realy stepped up distributing lollies to the massive group of by standers. The Bunbury Car Club through Rose and her team are sure spreading the word that the future of our sport will come from our youth. Many Thanks team.   Brian Moyle BCC.
