Miller’s play, an indictment of the political paranoia that defined theMcCarthy-era’s anti-communist “witch hunts” that cost many their livelihoods, won the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. This production marks the play’s fifth Broadway revival.

Two-time Oscar nominee Ronan (Brooklyn) plays Abigail Williams, with Wishaw (The Hour) as John Proctor, Tony winnerOkonedo (A Raisin in the Sun) as Elizabeth Proctor andCiaran Hinds (Game of Thrones,The Seafarer) as Deputy Governor Danforth. The cast also features Bill Camp (as Reverend John Hale), Jim Norton (as Giles Corey), Tavi Gevinson (as Mary Warren) and Jason Butler Harner (as Reverend Parris).
The company also includes Tina Benko (as Ann Putnam/Sarah Goode), Teagle Bougere (as Judge Hawthorne), Michael Braun (as Ezekiel Cheever), Jenny Jules (as Tituba), Thomas Jay Ryan (as Thomas Putnam), Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (as Susanna Walcott), Elizabeth Teeter (as Betty Parris), Ray Anthony Thomas (as Francis Nurse), Brenda Wehle (as Rebecca Nurse) and Erin Wilhelmi (as Mercy Lewis).
Scott Rudin, who also presented this season’s revival ofA View from the Bridge, produces. His upcoming Broadway slate includes this spring’sShuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed;and a 2017 revival ofHello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler.
The Crucible has original music by composerPhilip Glass.
The production has scenic and lighting design by longtime van Hove collaborator Jan Versweyveld and costume design by Wojciech Dziedzic. The casting directors are Heidi Griffiths and Zoe Rotter.
The play was nominated for four 2016 Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival.
