James Develin agrees to one-year deal
Fullback James Develin and the Patriots agreed on a one-year deal.
The Patriots decided to part ways with a couple of their prospective restricted free agents, but fullback James Develin won't be one of them. Develin tweeted Monday afternoon that he would be back with New England.
Develin and the team have agreed on a one-year deal worth less than the $1.6 million tender offer that represents the lowest tender, according to ESPNBoston.com. Develin broke his leg during a preseason game in New Orleans last season and spent the year on IR. He will try to earn a job with the team as he enters his fourth season as a versatile blocker and special teams player.
The 6-3, 251-pound Develin has seven carries for 15 yards and a touchdown, to go along with 10 catches for 105 yards.
Earlier in the offseason the Patriots informed wide receiverBrian Tyms and defensive tackleSealver Siliga – both set to become restricted free agents – that they wouldn't be receiving offers.
