Program Description

The Lion P.R.I.D.E. Academy provides a programfor high school students with emotional and behavioral problems operating in a public school, offering academic instruction with in-district clinical counseling and supports. The Academy is based on the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP), which will determine his/her academic pathway. Students served are aged 13 to 18, referred by boards of education from area school districts.

Each class will implement a well-structured environment that permits students to gain self-awareness skills and academic rigor. Daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy, study skills classes, and independent breakfast and lunch periods are included in the schedule.  Enrollment in the school’s diversified program includes academic instruction geared toward meeting graduation requirements, as well as a transition to post-secondary life choices, including work, continuing education, and community involvement. The program offers numerous community-based instruction and job experiences.
