Knox Bible Ad

 (Of David. A psalm.[1])Psalmus David.
1τῷ Δαυιδ ψαλμός εἶπεν ὁ κύριος τῷ κυρίῳ μου κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου2ῥάβδον δυνάμεώς σου ἐξαποστελεῖ κύριος ἐκ Σιων καὶ κατακυρίευε ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἐχθρῶν σου3μετὰ σοῦ ἡ ἀρχὴ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τῆς δυνάμεώς σου ἐν ταῖς λαμπρότησιν τῶν ἁγίων ἐκ γαστρὸς πρὸ ἑωσφόρου ἐξεγέννησά σε4ὤμοσεν κύριος καὶ οὐ μεταμεληθήσεται σὺ εἶ ἱερεὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κατὰ τὴν τάξιν Μελχισεδεκ5κύριος ἐκ δεξιῶν σου συνέθλασεν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ βασιλεῖς6κρινεῖ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν πληρώσει πτώματα συνθλάσει κεφαλὰς ἐπὶ γῆς πολλῶν7ἐκ χειμάρρου ἐν ὁδῷ πίεται διὰ τοῦτο ὑψώσει κεφαλήν1 To the Master I serve the Lord’s promise was given, Sit here at my right hand while I make thy enemies a footstool under thy feet.2 The Lord will make thy empire spring up like a branch out of Sion; thou art to bear rule in the midst of thy enemies.3 From birth, princely state shall be thine, holy and glorious; thou art my son, born like dew before the day-star rises.4 The Lord has sworn an oath there is no retracting, Thou art a priest for ever in the line of Melchisedech.[2]5 At thy right hand, the Lord will beat down kings in the day of his vengeance;6 he will pass sentence on the nations, heap high the bodies, scatter far and wide the heads of the slain.7 Let him but drink of the brook by the wayside, he will lift up his head in victory.[3]1Dixit Dominus Domino meo:
Sede a dextris meis,
donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.
2
Virgam virtutis tuæ emittet Dominus ex Sion:
dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.
3
Tecum principium in die virtutis tuæ
in splendoribus sanctorum:
ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.
4
Juravit Dominus, et non pœnitebit eum:
Tu es sacerdos in æternum
secundum ordinem Melchisedech.
5
Dominus a dextris tuis;
confregit in die iræ suæ reges.
6
Judicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas;
conquassabit capita in terra multorum.
7
De torrente in via bibet;
propterea exaltabit caput.
