| 2εἰσάκουσον ὁ θεός τῆς φωνῆς μου ἐν τῷ δέεσθαί με ἀπὸ φόβου ἐχθροῦ ἐξελοῦ τὴν ψυχήν μου3ἐσκέπασάς με ἀπὸ συστροφῆς πονηρευομένων ἀπὸ πλήθους ἐργαζομένων τὴν ἀνομίαν4οἵτινες ἠκόνησαν ὡς ῥομφαίαν τὰς γλώσσας αὐτῶν ἐνέτειναν τόξον αὐτῶν πρᾶγμα πικρὸν5τοῦ κατατοξεῦσαι ἐν ἀποκρύφοις ἄμωμον ἐξάπινα κατατοξεύσουσιν αὐτὸν καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσονται6ἐκραταίωσαν ἑαυτοῖς λόγον πονηρόν διηγήσαντο τοῦ κρύψαι παγίδας εἶπαν τίς ὄψεται αὐτούς7ἐξηρεύνησαν ἀνομίας ἐξέλιπον ἐξερευνῶντες ἐξερευνήσει προσελεύσεται ἄνθρωπος καὶ καρδία βαθεῖα8καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ὁ θεός βέλος νηπίων ἐγενήθησαν αἱ πληγαὶ αὐτῶν9καὶ ἐξησθένησαν ἐ{P'} αὐτοὺς αἱ γλῶσσαι αὐτῶν ἐταράχθησαν πάντες οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτούς10καὶ ἐφοβήθη πᾶς ἄνθρωπος καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τὰ ποιήματα αὐτοῦ συνῆκαν11εὐφρανθήσεται δίκαιος ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ἐλπιεῖ ἐ{P'} αὐτόν καὶ ἐπαινεσθήσονται πάντες οἱ εὐθεῖς τῇ καρδίᾳ | 2 O God, listen to my prayer when I plead with thee, save me from the threats of my mortal foe.3 Thine to defend me from this conspiracy of malice, this throng of evil-doers;4 the tongues that wound like a sharpened sword, the poisoned words aimed at me, like arrows.5 Stealthily they attack the innocent:6 suddenly, from a safe vantage-point, they wound him. See them pledged to an infamous resolve, plotting to lay snares for me, sure that they will go unseen!7 With what care they hatch their designs, planning treason double-dyed! Let the thoughts of man’s heart be deep as they will,8 yet God has arrows, too, to smite them with, sudden wounds to deal them;9 all their conspiring plays them false. Scornfully the onlookers shake their heads,10 awe-stricken every one; who but will acclaim God’s power, who but will ponder his great acts?11 Honest men will rejoice and put their trust in the Lord; upright hearts will not boast in vain. | 2Exaudi, Deus, orationem meam cum deprecor; a timore inimici eripe animam meam.3 Protexisti me a conventu malignantium, a multitudine operantium iniquitatem.4 Quia exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas; intenderunt arcum rem amaram,5 ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum.6 Subito sagittabunt eum, et non timebunt; firmaverunt sibi sermonem nequam. Narraverunt ut absconderent laqueos; dixerunt: Quis videbit eos?7 Scrutati sunt iniquitates; defecerunt scrutantes scrutinio. Accedet homo ad cor altum,8 et exaltabitur Deus. Sagittæ parvulorum factæ sunt plagæ eorum,9 et infirmatæ sunt contra eos linguæ eorum. Conturbati sunt omnes qui videbant eos,10 et timuit omnis homo. Et annuntiaverunt opera Dei, et facta ejus intellexerunt.11 Lætabitur justus in Domino, et sperabit in eo, et laudabuntur omnes recti corde. |
