Laid down 17 April 1943 under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 1448), by the Consolidated Steel Corp., Wilmington, CA

Launched 11 June 1943

CommissionedUSS San Pedro (PF-37), 23 October 1943

Decommissioned 12 July 1945 at Cold Harbor, Alaska, transferred under the Lend-Lease Program to the Soviet Union and renamedEK-5, 13 July 1945

Assigned to the Pacific Fleet 23 July 1945

Participated in the landings at Rasin (Najin), Korea 12 August 1945

Returned to U.S. custody 17 October 1949 at Yokosuka, Japan and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Yokosuka

Transferred on loan to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force 2 April 1953 and renamedKaya (PF 288)

Struck from the Navy Register 1 December 1961

Transferred outright to Japan, 28 August 1962

Reclassified as anAuxiliary Stock Craft,YAC-23

Decommissioned 1 April 1977

Returned to U.S. custody 26 July 1978

Fate unknown.
