As the countdown to America’s 250th anniversary advances, the Trust for the National Mall and National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) announce that DAR is making a transformative $2 million gift to the nation as the foundational Legacy Leader of the Trust’s Cherry Tree Endowment.
The federal government shutdown is affecting the National Park Service’s ability to welcome visitors and maintain select facilities on the National Mall. As the nonprofit, nonpartisan partner of the National Park Service, the Trust for the National Mall will continue raising private funds to restore, preserve, and enrich the visitor experience—and to help ensure continuity for the National Mall as needed.
Year Three of National Mall of Pickleball, presented by theTrust for the National Mall andHumana brought players and spectators to America’s Front Yard, bringing "moves that serve" —in every sense of the word—serving up community, good health, connection and fun.
Catherine Townsend, President and CEO of the Trust for the National Mall joined the Civics, Citizenship, and the Constitution Summit, co-hosted by More Perfect and iCivics at American University to announce the official launch of the National Mall Gateway.
The Inaugural Congressional Pickleball Match brought “The Hill” to the National Mall for an unforgettable evening of bipartisan sport, fun and charity on September 18, featuring America’s new favorite pastime on America’s Front Yard.

The Trust for the National Mall is the nonpartisan, nonprofit philanthropic partner of the National Park Service (NPS) dedicated to restoring, preserving and elevating the National Mall — the foremost symbol of our nation’s democracy, independence and freedom. The Trust is also the philanthropic partner for the preservation of the White House grounds and Presidents’ Park.
The Trust raises private funding to support capital projects, provides project expertise and management, and creates educational experiences and award-winning volunteer programming to enhance the experience for all who visit.
The National Mall must be maintained to the highest standards in keeping with its significance in our nation. With over 36 million visitors each year, the Mall is the most visited U.S. National Park. The Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service work together to ensure its legacy as a place that inspires pride, honors our nation’s founding, and celebrates our nation’s history and its future.

The Trust for the National Mall works in partnership with the National Park Service — it is public-private partnership at its best. The Trust brings private philanthropy to help the National Park Service care for and elevate the National Mall.
Every monument and memorial on the National Mall was built or restored thanks to private donations. Federal dollars alone are not enough to ensure the National Mall achieves its full potential and inspires and endures as the symbol of our nation’s democracy first conceived centuries ago.

As the official nonprofit partner of National Park Service, the Trust for the National Mall is committed to stewarding the iconic National Mall and providing visitors with opportunities to connect more deeply with the Mall’s history and its purpose.
As part of that commitment, the Trust partners with the National Park Service to lead its award-winning Volunteers-In-Park program. The Trust helps recruit, train and deploy a team of volunteer-experts to help National Park Service Rangers welcome, educate and guide visitors on the National Mall. More than 250 volunteers strong, our volunteer programming is growing and expanding across the National Mall.
