The Trust is also the philanthropic partner for the preservation of the White House grounds and Presidents’ Park.

The Trust raises private funding to support capital projects, provides project expertise and management, and creates educational experiences and award-winning volunteer programming to enhance the experience for all who visit.

The National Mall must be maintained to the highest standards in keeping with its significance in our nation. With over 36 million visitors each year, the Mall is the most visited U.S. National Park. The Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service work together to ensure its legacy as a place that inspires pride, honors our nation’s founding, and celebrates our nation’s history and its future.

Public-Private Partnership at ITS BEST

The National Mall is our nation’s foremost civic space — a place to reflect and remember, celebrate, relax and play.

The Trust for the National Mall works in partnership with the National Park Service — it is public-private partnership at its best. The Trust brings private philanthropy to help the National Park Service care for and elevate the National Mall.

Every monument and memorial on the National Mall was built or restored thanks to private donations. Federal dollars alone are not enough to ensure the National Mall achieves its full potential and inspires and endures as the symbol of our nation’s democracy first conceived centuries ago.

JOIN US. Help protect this historic space and ensure the National Mall’s purpose endures and thrives for generations to come.

“This great national treasure, with its iconic monument and memorials, is so important to visit and experience. Why? Because if people come here and see these things firsthand, they learn more about our country’s heritage, inspiring them to read more about our nation’s history and democracy, and in turn make them more informed citizens.”
— David M. Rubenstein, Businessman and Philanthropist; 2017 History, Heroes & Hope Award Recipient
