St. John Climacus (6th century)
John lived for many years as hermit at the foot of Mount Sinai. When he was 75, at the request of the other monks there, he became their abbot. His works have influenced relgious for centuries.

The fourth commandment is expressed in positive terms of duties to be fulfilled. It introduces the subsequent commandments which are concerned with particular respect for life, marriage, earthly goods, and speech. It constitutes one of the foundations of the social doctrine of the Church.
