Originally a hypothetical mineral named by Henry Stevens Washington [1867-1934] in 1903. First used to name natural material in 1935 by Norman L. Bowen.
Polymorph of:
Enstatite-Ferrosilite Series

Note: The name has been used in the past to describe the monoclinic dimorphclinoferrosilite, with the orthorhombic dimorph having the nameorthoferrosilite so be careful when reading older texts.
