London Fields overflows with interesting ideas but they are frequently buried under lurid fantasy sequences, blunt-edged satire and the sense that it is much more amused by its own wild daring than we are.

Heard, who certainly has the requisite physical allure for the part, puts in a decent enough turn as the enigmatic Six but, like her on-screen character, can seemingly do the nothing to prevent the brutal murder, either of herself, or of Amis’s bestseller.

OK, this movie was more unique than I expected! It is basically the showcase of Amber Heard's heroine. And she made all other gorgeous and sexy femme fatales in all the movies that I've seen before to feel like something 2nd rate.

I think there are some elements of this film I liked - the principle of the storyline and Thornton's acting from the writer's POV really appealed to me. Depp always delivers a fun character and does so effectively in the film - Heard's only real addition is remarkable beauty and a lot of conniving cunningness that is reflective of her character. It's not the worst film but certainly not the best, but has a promising premise of suspense and intrigue.

It’s a neo-noir murder mystery capturing Heard at peak femme fatale in a tale observed, manipulated and told by a struggling writer (Billy Bob Thornton) for “the chaos.” “Chaos” doesn’t quite sum up the movie. But almost.
The aggressively awful London Fields is, once again, proof that not every successful novel should become a movie.
So comprehensively does the film fail to represent the labyrinthian literary wonders of Amis’ book that it scarcely seems worthwhile to detail its universal shortcomings.

This London Fields is nothing but fallow ground. Or, to apply the metaphor that Thornton’s scribe gives to Heard’s sexed-up temptress when he first meets her, it’s a black hole — something that sucks talent, taste, light, energy and matter into maw and leaves everything stranded in a void.
London Fields, directed by Matthew Cullen and adapted from Martin Amis’s 1989 novel, is, quite simply, horrendous — a trashy, tortured misfire from beginning to end.

The only redeeming quality of this movie is the way the spotlight shines upon the beauty of Amber Heard. I have never seen a movie where a character has captured my eye the way Amber Heard does. The men that surround her in this movie see her this way as well, and some how the director allows us to have their empathy towards her as she fills the screen. She is a modern day siren and we can not resist her charms. Pure beauty has never been depicted this way so well. It is too bad the movie is a train wreck with a good premise. We are given an interesting scenario but it is a path that winds around to nowhere. Maybe the movie tries to be too smart for it's own good. Billy Bob Thornton is wasted in this role as the storyteller and one of the males that is lost in Amber's beauty. This movie is only worth seeing if you wish to see the radiance of it's star. Otherwise you best to save your money.

The only point in film is Amber Heard in lingerie. Who cares about it can save time and search for those parts on the internet.

(Mauro Lanari)A would-be neo-noir that actually fails even as its parody. Nothing else to add.
