Split Fiction is a genre-defying co-op adventure that shatters expectations at every turn. Blending sci-fi and fantasy with ever-evolving gameplay, it throws players into a seamless, fast-paced world where creativity knows no bounds. With stunning visuals, razor-sharp mechanics, and a co-op experience that rivals the best in gaming, Split Fiction isn’t just a game—it’s a bold, next-gen statement that demands to be played.

I could write about Split Fiction for another few thousand words and still not cover everything that made me smile. As with 2024's Astro Bot, it's bursting at the seams with a Nintendo-like playfulness, an excited child opening a toybox to show you everything it can, and yet with a more measured pacing that stops it running out of breath...It's a poignant and timely reminder that for all of technology's advances, art is still made my artists, and that might just make it one of 2025's most important games — as well as one of its best.

Split Fiction is an astonishing achievement that is relentlessly creative and fun. There is not a single moment that isn't a great time - with numerous instances where I was in awe of what I was seeing. On a technical level, it is silky smooth too - which is a nice breath of fresh air. Although I prefer the story and characters from Hazelight's previous game 'It Takes Two', I can't give Split Fiction anything less than a ten. It's a true game of the year contender.

Perfect game to enjoy with your suppose. Level designs and how you need to cooperate to progress makes this game the perfect co-op game.

A game that proves, once again, Hazelight's undisputed skill with cooperative dynamics: who knows if there will ever be a limit for this studio.
Split Fiction, a manic mash-up of science fiction and fantasy that brings together space marines, trolls, cyberninjas and dragons, will go down as one of the most beloved co-op games of this generation.

Colossal co-op entertainment: The action-adventure Split Fiction ignites a veritable firework of gameplay in breathtakingly beautiful game worlds - and tells a touching story along the way.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. The joy of solving puzzles together, the rich fantasy world, and the rewarding teamwork elements make Split Fiction a game that stands out in the co-op genre. Weather you’re enjoying the game with a partner who isn’t typically into gaming, or a friend that you’ve been gaming with for years, this is one of the best options out there.

Split Fiction is hokey, muddled, and needlessly self-defeating. It’s also lively, inventive, and so earnest that it’s hard to be mad at it for long. These aren’t opposing forces that tear Hazelight’s latest apart; the clumsiness is inseparable from the delight. Both are born from the ambitious vision of artists who still believe in the magic of creativity and are willing to take big swings in its honor. Sometimes it absolutely whiffs. We all do. Fail again. Fail better. But it’s those moments where it connects, where simple ideas turn into unforgettable spectacle, that remind us why art can’t be automated. Even the most advanced machine can never dream bigger than a human with a heart.

Split Fiction – A Thrilling Cyberpunk ShowdownSplit Fiction is a game that delivers on all fronts, blending tight controls, immersive cyberpunk aesthetics, and a thrilling, fast-paced gameplay loop that keeps you and your friends on edge the entire time. The moment you pick up the controller, the fluidity of movement and precision in combat stand out. Whether you're dodging attacks, executing combos, or pulling off split-second maneuvers, the game never feels sluggish or unfair. Every encounter demands skill, making victories feel truly earned.Beyond the core gameplay, the world of Split Fiction is a sight to behold. The cyberpunk setting is rich with neon-drenched cityscapes, high-tech dystopian vibes, and an atmosphere that completely pulls you in. It’s not just a backdrop—it feels like a living, breathing world full of secrets and dangers lurking around every corner. Then there are the mini-games. Most games treat them as throwaway distractions, but Split Fiction goes above and beyond. These aren’t just side activities—they could be full games in their own right, offering tons of variety and depth that add even more to the experience. And let’s talk about that ending. Without spoiling anything, it’s over the top in the best way possible. The developers clearly knew they had to stick the landing, and they did so with a finale that ties everything together in an explosive, unforgettable fashion. If you’re looking for a game that delivers intense gameplay, an immersive world, and a truly satisfying conclusion, Split Fiction is an absolute Must-Play.

At first impressions, it feels lacking in story, pacing, character likability and a feeling of an interactive world. It really is all over the place and it doesn't seem like there is a goal. That's the nature of the idea I guess, but it just feels messy and not put together. Compared to IT2 the levels feel bare in what you can actually interact with and the character dynamic is stale. Some sections feel like a chore and less inspired. If IT2 is a 10 this is a 7. My only critique of IT2 is that the ending to the story was abrupt. There wasn't a really strong build-up, and then it just ended without an impactful climax.

In simple words, it's boring! There are a few fun moments and ideas and mechanics but not enough. 80 percent of game is repetitive and boring.Me and my gf played it and it was such a drag, we just wanted it to end sooner. Games like cuphead and even it2 are way better and entertaining than this one. It's like it is designed only for non gamers and people who have never seen any motorbike sequence, dragon riding, sword play and ... in any game.Story is straight up bad, characters are unlikeable and shallow and we got no connection with them. At least it2 character interactions were funny.World is soooo empty and you have nothing to explore and do. It2 had some semi open maps with lots of fun stuff.Puzzles are sooo easy and repetitive. There isn'tany challenge or excitement. It2 was easy as well. But at least had enough diversity in ideas, not to get bored. There are no original gameplay ideas before the last 2 hrs of game which is a bit fun. All gameplay mechanics are so easy, shallow and underwhelming.

SummaryEmbrace mind-blowing moments as you’re pulled deep into the many worlds of Split Fiction, a boundary-pushing co-op action adventure from the studio behind 2021 Game of the Year Winner, It Takes Two. Mio and Zoe are contrasting writers – one writes sci-fi and the other writes fantasy – who become trapped in their own stories after being h...
