Remarkable is one of the most appropriate ways to describe Atomfall. So many triple A games these days are situated in American cities and smother you with their American cultural values, but Atomfall is as British as a Yorkshire Pudding, and thus it's an absolute treat. The array of difficulty options, the elegant scenery, the incentive to discover and go off the beaten path, and all the pleasant sights and sounds of Atomfall make it an unforgettable and outstanding survival game that is irresistibly moreish and well-worth your time.
Honestly been a while since I've played a 100% original new IP, More companies need to make original IPs more often. The gameplay is fun, the feel is not comparable to Fallout, it's a brand-new story in an environment that isn't usually touched on (post-apocalyptic England), and the characters are intense and sometimes hilarious at the same time. Only thing that I would critique, inventory system. Its familiar but it fills up quick and feels cumbersome, but overall, that doesn't kill anything in the game for me. Also, this game is a great example of try it for yourself before listening to another opinion.
Great Game, Rebellion Got This Game Right.... Incredible Combat Mechanics, Fast Movement Through The Open World !!! One Of The Big Surprises Of This Year
Atomfall may be one of Rebellion's most different proposals in years, but it delivers a sandbox with investigation in an interesting and fun way. There are technical and some structural problems that are notable, but they do not take away the shine of a game that has everything to please a good portion of players.
Atomfall, at first glance, might be regarded as a Fallout clone, but the truth is it has a clear identity that makes it stand out from the pack of imitators. Its green and lush surroundings give it a unique flair, even if its story is still a bit by the numbers. The Rebellion title also has wide open maps encouraging verticality and experimentation, which you’ll need to survive its brutal but satisfying combat.
Atomfall reimagines a jolly trip to the Lake District as a fight for survival, a unique idea that leaves a lasting impression. Not every decision you make feels like life and death but its British sensibilities and stunning visual design make up for those weaker points, delivering an engaging jaunt in the countryside… with guns.
In its latest action-adventure game, Sniper Elite developer Rebellion lays out a solid plan to thrive in a wasteland of nuclear apocalypse games. Rather than aping Fallout or Stalker’s action RPG formula, the more streamlined Atomfall scavenges together some original ideas in its deconstructed quests and an emphasis on bartering. That could have made for a compelling survival story built around open-ended exploration, but it’s those pesky details that will get you killed during a nuclear disaster.
Atomfall has great vibes, but damn it has a lot of great issues too, the AI is ass, the enemy variety is poor, you got two robot enemies, 2 infected enemies, and 2 human enemies, and a few trap things, also the weapon selection isn't too great and the rewards for quests ****, I saved a woman's husband, had to go through hell's **** to do it, and she is like thanks so much, here is an medkit. The story and vibes are pretty decent, especially the world. This game also has an insane amount of loading screen like, you will load just so you reach a rooftop, its insane. The Gameplay is decent but gets stale quickly, melee is not that good and the endings aren't insane either. This game is a perfect 7/10 for me, its decent for it's 10 hour runtime, even tho it has some big issues.
Game looks very close to Fallout and Stalker series. I cant say much about the game, investigations are okey and interesting but everything is bland and boring especially open world, empty with nothing in it, feels like its built by some random modders. Combat feels outdated, crafting system is okey as seen in millions of other RPG games so its nothing different. Basically, this game has what many other RPG's had over the past 10-15 years, you wont find anything too unique or too interesting. As some have mentioned boredom blends in and game is pretty short.
The game looks amazing, and does so while having a high frame rate. A rare thing heads days. I also liked the voice acting. Unfortunately, the movement and combat are so badly balanced and sluggish it ruins the experience. The game is hard, which isn’t a bad thing. But tedious is. Giving me 9 bullets in the first hour of the game is fine too. But I better enjoy the melee combat and stealth if I only have 6 revolver shots and 3 shotgun shells. Unfortunately the stealth non existent enemies see you from too far away, and once I did learn how to sneak up on people the takedowns are so loud they alert the whole camp. The melee combat has no weight or block mechanic so you just spam attacks at each other. You can’t force me into a hardcore survival setting that prioritizes melee combat over ranged, then not offer me a way to protect my health in melee combat. Kinda silly, and the formula is off there. If the movement and gunplay were better I’d be waiting on a fix.
SummaryA single player, survival-action game, Atomfall blends post-war Britain with Cold War paranoia, folk horror, and elements of classic British sci-fi like Day of the Triffids, Doctor Who and The Prisoner, to create an immersive and thrilling gameplay experience.Set in the rolling British countryside with idyllic pubs, quaint villages,...
